Our Riding

Abbotsford is a city of approximately 140,000 people located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Its southern boundary is the Canada-U.S. border, while its northern boundary is the mighty Fraser River, with the District of Mission beyond.  To the west is the Township of Langley, with the City of Chilliwack to the east.

Residents of Abbotsford enjoy spectacular views of Mount Baker and the Coast Mountains. Abbotsford is home to the University of the Fraser Valley, the Abbotsford International Airport and the Fraser Valley Trade and Exhibition Centre (TRADEX).  A wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities are available to residents of Abbotsford, including activities offered at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre, Abbotsford Recreational Centre, The Reach Gallery Museum, and Abbotsford Exhibition Park.  Our sports fans cheer on athletes from the Abbotsford Heat, Abbotsford Mariners, Abbotsford Pilots and Abbotsford RFC.

Our City is the raspberry and blueberry capital of Canada, as well as being the hotbed of poultry and dairy farming.  Indeed, Abbotsford generates in the order of $1.8 billion of farm gate revenues every year, making it the agriculture capital of British Columbia.  We are also home to Cascade Aerospace, which, among many other aerospace activities, services the Canadian Armed Forces’ fleet of C-130J Hercules aircraft.

Abbotsford has a strong sense of community spirit, winning the “Proud to be Canadian Campaign” in 2010 and repeatedly ranking as the most generous community in Canada.  We’re a welcoming City for families, and offer a safe, health and thoroughly satisfying way of life.  You can be sure to find something to cater to your tastes. Please check our events section for information about local events.
